Kelly died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (S.I.D.S.) or Cot Death on 11th April 1988 aged 3 months. At the time of uploading this slideshow it is nearly the 20th Anniversary of her death - but it seems like it was only yesterday.
It was long before I ever had a camcorder or computer, but at least now with modern technology we are able to make slideshows etc like this in memory of our deceased loved ones.
She was my second baby, I was very young at the time & it was very difficult to deal with. I would like to thank my family for their help & support at that time, I couldn't have managed without them - especially in caring for my other little girl who was just 2 years old then. I would also like to thank the Children's Hospital for the loan of an Apnoea Alarm (breathing monitor) for each of the 4 babies I had since Kelly's death, I don't think I would have been able to sleep if it weren't for these alarms, also thanks to Blue Peter who must have raised money for the hospital to purchase some of these alarms (one of the monitors I used had a Blue Peter plaque attached to it).
Although I have 5 other children, I still miss Kelly & I will always feel incomplete. It still saddens me, time heals the pain (slowly) - but the scar will always remain. Life goes on for the rest of us & when you have children you have to carry on for them.
I have overlapped 2 songs for this slideshow, 'Could've Been' & 'Always on My Mind'. Both of these songs were in the charts when Kelly was alive & they both remind me of her, there are other songs too - but 2 are plenty. |
